What Is a CPSC-Accepted Testing Laboratory?

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) maintains a public list of third-party testing laboratories it has accepted for testing regulated consumer products. These laboratories are eligible to perform the testing required for children’s product certification (CPC) and for certain general-use products that must be supported by testing before a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) is issued.

An accepted laboratory must meet the qualification requirements in 16 CFR Part 1112 and be listed on CPSC’s Third-Party Testing GridView. Using an accepted laboratory is a practical step toward demonstrating that your product meets the applicable CPSC safety rules, including flammability, lead content, phthalates, mechanical hazards, and other product-specific standards.

Why Use This CPSC Lab Directory?

This directory mirrors the CPSC-accepted laboratory list, letting you search by laboratory name, city, or country to quickly find a testing partner for toys, children’s products, apparel, furniture, and other consumer goods. All results shown are limited to active records from the public CPSC list.

How to Choose a Testing Laboratory

  • Confirm the laboratory covers the required test methods for your product category (for example ASTM F963 for toys or 16 CFR Part 1632/1633 for mattresses).
  • Check geographic coverage and turnaround time to fit your production and shipping schedule.
  • Verify the laboratory’s CPSC acceptance status before relying on its results for certification, and keep the acceptance letter or listing on file.
  • Keep test reports and reasonable testing program documentation for at least five years as required for certificate recordkeeping.

This page is a reference directory only. Laboratory acceptance status may change; always confirm the latest status on the official CPSC Third-Party Testing GridView.
